About A Harrison Barnes

Legal staffing expert A. Harrison Barnes has founded several legal recruiting and staffing firms over the past decade. In 2000, he founded The Employment Research Institute as well as BCG Attorney Search. The Employment Research Institute, headquartered in Pasadena, California, manages over 150 job search companies, recruiting firms, and job search websites, many of which focus on the legal field. BCG Attorney Search focuses solely on legal recruiting, helping over 10,000 attorneys annually find new positions. A. Harrison Barnes manages both companies, leveraging a solid legal background and years of entrepreneurship.

A. Harrison Barnes earned his Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Studies from the University of Chicago in Illinois, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law. During his undergraduate study, he co-taught a college-level class and graduated among the top of his class. During his law study, he served as editor of the Virginia Law Review and as the Managing Editor of the Journal of Law and Politics. He went on to served as a clerk for United States District Judge Robert H. Cleland in Bay City, Michigan. After a year of clerkship, he served as an associate in the Los Angeles law firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges, where he handled various defense contracts and represented several high-profile clients. He followed this role with an associate position at Dewey Ballantine, also of Los Angeles, where he advised a number of corporations and government entities.

Since founding The Employment Research Institute and BCG Attorney Search, A. Harrison Barnes has founded two other legal staffing firms, Legal Authority and LawCrossing. He frequently lectures on job search strategies for attorneys and maintains a regular blog on the topic. He has also published a number of articles as well as a guide to class rankings at top United States law schools.

In his free time, A. Harrison Barnes maintains active involvement in a number of philanthropic organizations, including Smile Train.
